Monel 400 is an alloy consisting of about 65% nickel, 33% copper, and 2% iron. It is known for its high strength and outstanding resistance to corrosion. Grade 2.4360 is resistant to stress corrosion cracking and maintains good mechanical properties up to about 550°C. The alloy demonstrates excellent resistance to fluorine, hydrogen fluoride and their compounds, and is unaffected by seawater as well as many acids and alkalis. Thanks to its salt resistance, it is also used in salt production. Unlike Monel K 500, Alloy 400 cannot be hardened by heat treatment.
Evek GmbH offers premium quality nickel alloys at competitive prices. As a trusted supplier of Monel 400, we ensure secure and convenient delivery.
Monel 400, like Monel K 500, is widely used in the chemical industry for applications such as heat exchangers and pressurized gas cylinders for fluorine. Its resistance to perspiration makes it suitable for eyewear manufacturing, and it is also used for making musical instrument strings, including those for electric guitars. Other typical uses for Alloy 400 include:
- Processing of hydrofluoric acid
- Salt production
- Offshore engineering
- Turbine construction
- Shipbuilding
- Valves, pumps, and heat exchangers
