Monel 400 is an alloy containing about 65% nickel, 33% copper, and 2% iron. It is known for its high strength and outstanding resistance to corrosion. Designated as 2.4360, this material resists stress corrosion cracking and maintains good mechanical properties up to approximately 550°C. Monel 400 is highly resistant to fluorine, hydrogen fluoride, and their compounds, as well as to seawater, numerous acids, and alkalis. Its excellent salt resistance makes it ideal for salt production. Unlike Monel K 500, Alloy 400 cannot be hardened.
