Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy containing about 65% nickel, 33% copper, and 2% iron. Known for its high strength and outstanding corrosion resistance, grade 2.4360 stands up well to stress corrosion cracking and maintains good mechanical properties up to around 550°C. This material shows excellent resistance to fluorine, hydrogen fluoride, and their compounds, and is unaffected by seawater, many acids, and alkalis. Its salt resistance makes it suitable for salt production. Unlike Monel K 500, Alloy 400 cannot be hardened.

Similar to Monel K 500, Monel 400 is widely used in the chemical industry, including in heat exchangers and pressurized gas cylinders for fluorine.
