Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy containing about 65% nickel, 33% copper, and 2% iron. It is known for its high strength and outstanding resistance to corrosion. Designated as 2.4360, it resists stress corrosion cracking and maintains strong mechanical properties up to approximately 550°C. This alloy is highly resistant to fluorine, hydrogen fluoride, and their compounds, as well as to seawater, a wide range of acids, alkalis, and salt, making it suitable for salt production. Unlike Monel K 500, Alloy 400 cannot be hardened by heat treatment.
