The brass square bar offered here is made from material 2.0401, also known as Ms58 or CuZn39Pb3. This is a copper-zinc-lead alloy containing up to 59% copper and 1.7–2.8% lead, with the remainder being zinc. Material 2.0401 is well suited for hot forming but less suitable for cold forming. It is corrosion resistant and can be easily polished by mechanical means. This alloy stands out for its excellent machinability and suitability for automatic machining. Soft soldering is the recommended joining method, while this brass square rod is only suitable for resistance welding—gas welding is not advised.
