This brass square bar is made from material 2.0401, also known as Ms58 or CuZn39Pb3. It is a copper-zinc-lead alloy with up to 59% copper and 1.7-2.8% lead, with the remainder being tin. 2.0401 is easily hot-formed, but not well suited for cold forming. It offers excellent corrosion resistance and can be polished mechanically to a high shine. The material is known for its outstanding machinability and is ideal for automatic machining. Soft soldering is recommended for joining, and it is suitable for resistance welding only. Gas welding is not recommended.
