The copper square bar, designated as Cu-ETP, is made from electrolytically refined, oxygen-containing copper with a minimum copper content of 99.9% and a maximum oxygen content of 0.04%. Due to its composition, it is not suitable for welding because of the risk of hydrogen embrittlement. However, the material offers excellent cold and hot formability and is ideal for soft soldering. Brazing in a reducing atmosphere and machining are not recommended. With its outstanding electrical and thermal conductivity, this copper square bar is commonly used in heating and cooling systems, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, and for manufacturing electrical lines, wire windings, and chokes/coils. It is also popular in construction for decorative purposes on interiors and facades. Key properties of the copper square bar include excellent formability, good solderability, good corrosion resistance, and smooth surface finish (although minor handling or storage marks may be present). It is available in semi-hard or hard condition, but is not suitable for sweating or brazing in a reducing atmosphere, and has limited machinability.
