The copper square bar, designated as Cu-ETP, is an electrolytically refined copper alloy with a minimum copper content of 99.9% and a maximum oxygen content of 0.04%. Due to the presence of oxygen, this material is not suitable for welding because of the risk of hydrogen embrittlement. However, it boasts excellent formability both in cold and hot conditions and is particularly well-suited for soft soldering. Brazing in a reducing atmosphere and machining are not recommended. This copper bar stands out for its high electrical and thermal conductivity, making it ideal for use in heating and cooling systems (such as radiators and heat exchangers), electrical machinery (including motors and coils), and various building applications (like decorative facades and interior linings). It is also commonly used in shipbuilding, mechanical engineering, electric lines, and wire windings. Key properties include excellent processing and soldering capabilities, good corrosion resistance, and strong formability. However, it is not suitable for sweating, cannot be brazed in reducing atmospheres, and offers poor machinability. The surface is smooth, though minor marks from handling or storage may be present.
