This copper square bar, designated as Cu-ETP, is made from electrolytically refined, oxygen-containing copper with a minimum copper content of 99.9% and a maximum oxygen content of 0.04%. Due to its composition, this material is not suitable for welding because of its susceptibility to hydrogen embrittlement. However, it offers outstanding cold and hot formability and is excellent for soft soldering, though brazing in a reducing atmosphere and machining are not recommended. With its high electrical and thermal conductivity, this copper bar is ideal for use in heating and cooling systems, such as radiators and heat exchangers, and is commonly found in electrical machines, components like terminals and contact carriers, as well as in wire windings and chokes/coils. It is also widely utilized in building construction for decorative purposes, in electrical engineering, shipbuilding, and mechanical engineering. Key features of this copper square bar include excellent processing properties, superior solderability, and good resistance to corrosion. However, it is not suitable for sweating or brazing in a reducing atmosphere and has limited machinability. The surface is smooth but may show minor marks from handling or storage.
