Tungsten is a dense, heavy metal belonging to the chromium group of transition metals. Tungsten exhibits paramagnetic behavior and conducts heat and electricity very well. Thanks to a protective oxide layer, it’s also resistant to oxidizing acids, but can dissolve in hydrofluoric and nitric acid mixtures.
