Grade 5 titanium is the most commonly used titanium alloy, consisting of approximately 88.74–91.0% titanium, 5.5–6.75% aluminum, 3.5–4.5% vanadium, and 0.015% hydrogen. Also known as material number 3.7165, this alloy can be hardened up to 25 mm thickness, unlike pure titanium. It offers excellent hot formability, weldability, and exceptional resistance to corrosion—including seawater. Grade 5 titanium features high strength, good toughness, and low density, as well as remarkable resistance to crack initiation and propagation.
