Grade 5 titanium is the most commonly used titanium alloy, consisting of approximately 88.74 - 91.0% titanium, 5.5 - 6.75% aluminum, 3.5 - 4.5% vanadium, and about 0.015% hydrogen. Known by material number 3.7165, this alloy can be hardened (up to 25 mm thickness) and offers excellent hot formability and weldability. It is highly resistant to corrosive environments, including seawater, and stands out for its high strength, good toughness, low density, and excellent resistance to both crack initiation and propagation.
