Grade 5 titanium, also known as 3.7165, is the most commonly used titanium alloy. It consists of about 88.74 - 91.0% titanium, 5.5 - 6.75% aluminum, 3.5 - 4.5% vanadium, and 0.015% hydrogen. This alloy stands out for its ability to be hardened up to 25 mm thick, unlike pure titanium. Titanium 3.7165 offers excellent hot formability and weldability, as well as outstanding resistance to various corrosive environments, including seawater. It combines high strength and toughness with low density and is highly resistant to crack initiation and propagation.
