Grade 5 titanium is the most commonly used titanium alloy, containing about 88.74–91.0% titanium, 5.5–6.75% aluminum, 3.5–4.5% vanadium, and 0.015% hydrogen. Known by material number 3.7165, this alloy can be hardened up to 25 mm thickness, unlike pure titanium. It offers excellent hot formability, weldability, and outstanding resistance to corrosion—including seawater. With high strength, toughness, and low density, grade 5 titanium stands out for its resistance to crack initiation and propagation.
