Grade 5 titanium, also known as titanium 3.7165, is the most commonly used titanium alloy. It contains approximately 88.74‒91.0% titanium, 5.5‒6.75% aluminum, 3.5‒4.5% vanadium, and a small amount of hydrogen (0.015%). The material number is 3.7165. Unlike pure titanium, this alloy is hardenable (up to 25 mm thickness) and offers excellent hot formability and weldability. It is highly resistant to corrosion—including in marine environments—and stands out for its high strength, good toughness, and low density. Grade 5 titanium is also known for its outstanding resistance to crack initiation and propagation.
