Grade 5 titanium (material number 3.7165) is the most popular titanium alloy, consisting of around 88.74 – 91.0% titanium, 5.5 – 6.75% aluminum, 3.5 – 4.5% vanadium, and 0.015% hydrogen. Unlike pure titanium, this alloy can be hardened up to 25 mm thickness. It offers excellent hot formability, weldability, and outstanding resistance to corrosion and seawater. With a combination of high strength, good toughness, and low density, grade 5 titanium is also highly resistant to crack initiation and propagation.
