Grade 5 titanium, also known as alloy 3.7165, is the most commonly used titanium alloy. Its composition includes approximately 88.74 – 91.0% titanium, 5.5 – 6.75% aluminum, 3.5 – 4.5% vanadium, and 0.015% hydrogen. Unlike pure titanium, this alloy can be hardened up to a 25 mm thickness. It offers excellent hot formability and weldability, and stands out for its high resistance to corrosive environments, including seawater. Material 3.7165 is known for its high strength, good toughness, and low density, as well as superior resistance to crack initiation and propagation.
