Grade 5 titanium (material number 3.7165) is the most popular titanium alloy, containing approximately 88.74–91.0% titanium, 5.5–6.75% aluminum, 3.5–4.5% vanadium, and 0.015% hydrogen. Unlike pure titanium, grade 5 titanium can be hardened (up to 25 mm thickness), offers excellent hot formability, and is easy to weld. It is highly resistant to corrosion from various media, including seawater. The alloy stands out for its high strength, good toughness, low density, and excellent resistance to crack initiation and propagation.
