Grade 5 titanium is the most commonly used titanium alloy, containing approximately 88.74–91.0% titanium, 5.5–6.75% aluminum, 3.5–4.5% vanadium, and 0.015% hydrogen. Its material number is 3.7165. Unlike pure titanium, this alloy can be hardened up to a thickness of 25 mm. It offers excellent hot formability, weldability, and outstanding resistance to corrosion, including seawater. Material 3.7165 is known for its high strength, good toughness, low density, and strong resistance to crack initiation and propagation.
