Grade 5 titanium is the most commonly used titanium alloy, containing around 88.74–91% titanium, 5.5–6.75% aluminum, 3.5–4.5% vanadium, and a small percentage of hydrogen. Its material number is 3.7165. Unlike pure titanium, grade 5 (3.7165) can be hardened up to 25 mm thickness. This alloy offers excellent hot formability and weldability, along with outstanding resistance to various corrosive environments, including seawater. It is known for its high strength, low density, good toughness, and exceptional resistance to crack initiation and propagation.
