It is easy to roll, forge, and hammer. While zirconium is a poor conductor of electricity, it has relatively good thermal conductivity. At high temperatures, it reacts with most nonmetals, but due to passivation, it remains stable in air. Zirconium resists most acids but can be attacked at room temperature by aqua regia and hydrofluoric acid. It is not sensitive to aqueous bases. In finely divided form, zirconium can be pyrophoric.
