It is easy to roll, forge, and hammer. While it is a poor conductor of electricity, it conducts heat relatively well. Zirconium reacts with most nonmetals at high temperatures but remains stable in air due to passivation. It resists most acids but is attacked by aqua regia and hydrofluoric acid at room temperature, and is not affected by aqueous bases. Finely divided zirconium can be pyrophoric.
