This alloy provides high tensile strength and outstanding resistance to corrosion, seawater, most acids, and alkalis. It maintains reliable mechanical properties at temperatures up to around 550°C and is resistant to stress corrosion cracking. Monel® 400 is not affected by hydrofluoric acid, fluorine, or their compounds, and it cannot be hardened by heat treatment.
