Monel® 400 (Alloy 400, 2.4360) is a nickel-copper alloy containing about 65% nickel, 33% copper, and 2% iron. This material is valued for its high tensile strength and outstanding resistance to seawater, corrosion, most acids, and alkalis. Monel® 400 maintains good mechanical properties at temperatures up to 550°C and is not affected by stress corrosion cracking. It is specifically resistant to hydrofluoric acid, fluorine, and related compounds. Please note that this alloy cannot be hardened.
