Monel® 400 is a nickel-copper alloy composed of about 65% nickel, 33% copper, and 2% iron. It offers high tensile strength and outstanding resistance to corrosion, seawater, a variety of acids, and alkalis. This material maintains strong mechanical performance at temperatures up to approximately 550°C and is resistant to stress corrosion cracking. Monel® 400 is also unaffected by hydrofluoric acid, fluorine, and related compounds. Note that alloy 2.4360 is not hardenable by heat treatment.
Evek GmbH is a trusted supplier of Alloy 400, offering fast and straightforward worldwide shipping. You can purchase nickel alloys securely and easily through the Evek GmbH online store.
The primary use of Monel® 400 is in the chemical industry, such as in heat exchangers, fluorine storage tanks, and liners. It is also widely used in offshore engineering and salt production. Additional applications for alloy 2.4360 include:
- Turbine manufacturing
- Valves and pumps (for tetrachloroethene production)
- Oil and gas exploration
- Glass production
- Animal identification tags
Key properties of Monel® 400 include:
- Exceptional resistance to corrosion, seawater, most acids, and alkalis
- Reliable mechanical properties up to 550°C
- Resistance to stress corrosion cracking
- Unreactive to hydrofluoric acid, fluorine, and their compounds
- Non-hardenable
