Zinc is a brittle transition metal notable for its ductility at temperatures between 120°C and 150°C, making it suitable for rolling into sheets and wires. It remains stable in air due to the formation of a protective layer. At 220°C, it can be converted into powder, which is pyrophoric and can ignite spontaneously in air.
