Rhenium is a rare transition metal known for its exceptional hardness, high density, ductility, and one of the highest melting points among metals, second only to tungsten. It is highly resistant to non-oxidizing acids, easily workable (suitable for deep drawing, bending, and pressing), and has excellent weldability and forgeability. Rhenium is stable in air and only slightly soluble in oxidizing acids. Below 1.7 K, it exhibits superconductivity.

If you are interested in purchasing rhenium, contact Evek GmbH. Our team is here to offer expert advice and answer any questions you may have.

Rhenium is primarily used as an alloying element, especially in nickel superalloys to enhance resistance to creep and fatigue at high temperatures. It is also used in platinum-rhenium alloys for thermocouples and in platinum-rhenium catalysts to increase the octane rating of unleaded gasoline.

    Main applications of rhenium include:

    • Aircraft industry (turbine blades)
    • Petroleum industry (catalysts)
    • Electrical industry (thermocouples)
    • Mass spectrometry (hot cathodes, electrical contacts)

    Key properties of rhenium metal:

    • High hardness, density, and ductility
    • Excellent resistance to non-oxidizing acids
    • Good formability, weldability, and forgeability
    • Soluble in oxidizing acids
    • Stable in air
    • Superconducting below 1.7 K

The current price of rhenium can always be found in the Evek GmbH online store. We offer worldwide delivery and are recognized as a reliable supplier.
