Please refer to our FAQ for details.Hafnium is a heavy metal known for its corrosion resistance and ability to exist in two different crystal structures depending on temperature. Pure hafnium is soft, ductile, and easy to roll or forge. When exposed to air, it forms a protective oxide layer, shielding it from further oxidation. The metal withstands most acids and, at room temperature, dissolves only in aqua regia and hydrofluoric acid. Finely divided hafnium is pyrophoric but non-toxic.Our competitive hafnium prices in the Evek GmbH online shop provide excellent value. We are committed to outstanding service and long-term customer relationships.Hafnium’s primary use is in nuclear technology, particularly for control rods in nuclear reactors and reactors in nuclear submarines. Adding just 2% hafnium to alloys with tungsten, molybdenum, niobium, or tantalum significantly boosts their strength and heat resistance.Applications of hafnium include: - Nuclear engineering (reactor control rods) - Military technology (nuclear submarine reactors) - Flash lamps - Alloying with niobium, tantalum, molybdenum, and tungstenKey properties of hafnium: - Highly flexible and easy to process - Retains stability in air - Excellent resistance to most acids - Pyrophoric in powdered form - Non-toxicPurchase hafnium from Evek GmbH and benefit from our flexible discount system for a superior shopping experience.
