3.7164, also known as titanium grade 5 or Ti6Al4V, is an age-hardenable titanium alloy suitable for thicknesses up to 25 mm. Its composition includes approximately 88.74-91.0% titanium, 5.5-6.75% aluminum, and 3.5-4.5% vanadium. This alloy is well-known for its combination of high strength, toughness, and ductility, and maintains excellent fatigue resistance even in humid or marine environments. Ti6Al4V is easy to weld, hot form, and machine. It is highly corrosion-resistant and withstands various aggressive environments, with an upper service temperature of about 400°C.
