EN 1.4418 is a high-strength martensitic-austenitic stainless steel with low carbon content. It combines high strength with good weldability - properties that are retained after welding. EN 1.4418 is designed for applications in mildly corrosive environments where the above characteristics are required.

In our standard warehouse condition, the metal matrix consists of 80% martensite, 10% austenite, and 10% ferrite. This composition allows for a low-carbon martensitic structure after quenching and tempering. Martensite, some residual austenite, chromium, and molybdenum together contribute to the following characteristic properties – high tensile strength, high toughness, better corrosion properties than most existing stainless martensitic steels, and very good fatigue resistance.
