EN 1.4418 is a high-strength, low-carbon stainless steel with a martensitic-austenitic structure. It offers excellent strength and weldability that remain stable after welding, making it suitable for mildly corrosive environments where durability is essential.
Our standard stock features a metal matrix of 80% martensite, 10% austenite, and 10% ferrite. This composition creates a low-carbon martensitic structure after heat treatment. The combination of martensite, residual austenite, chromium, and molybdenum gives the steel its high tensile strength, toughness, superior corrosion resistance compared to most martensitic stainless steels, and excellent fatigue resistance.
