EN 1.4418 is a high-strength, low-carbon martensitic-austenitic stainless steel. It offers a combination of excellent strength and good weldability, maintaining these properties even after welding. This steel is ideal for applications in mildly corrosive environments where both durability and weldability are essential.
Our standard stock features a metal structure comprised of 80% martensite, 10% austenite, and 10% ferrite. After quenching and tempering, this composition results in a low-carbon martensitic matrix. The blend of martensite, residual austenite, chromium, and molybdenum delivers exceptional tensile strength, superior toughness, enhanced corrosion resistance compared to most other martensitic stainless steels, and very good resistance to fatigue.
