The 1.4404 hexagon is an austenitic stainless steel alloyed with chromium, nickel, and molybdenum. Its low carbon content grants it outstanding resistance to non-oxidizing acids and chloride-containing environments. This material is not prone to intergranular corrosion and is easy to process, including welding and cold forming. It is suitable for use at temperatures up to 550°C, though continuous operation is recommended around 300°C.
