Haynes 188 is a heat-resistant cobalt-based alloy. The cobalt content is about 40%. Cobalt ensures temperature resistance and good magnetic conductivity. Additionally, 2.4683 contains about 22% nickel and chromium as well as approximately 15% tungsten. The material is characterized by excellent resistance to oxidation at temperatures up to 1100°C. Furthermore, it remains stable in sulfurous environments. The grade exhibits good ductility and corrosion resistance and shows good resistance to abrasion and impact loads. Alloy 188 is not hardenable, but can be excellently cold-formed.
