Haynes 188 is a cobalt-based, heat-resistant alloy containing about 40% cobalt, which provides excellent temperature stability and strong magnetic properties. The alloy, also known as 2.4683, includes approximately 22% nickel and chromium, along with around 15% tungsten. It offers outstanding oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 1100°C and is suitable for use in sulphur-containing environments. This material is known for its good ductility, high corrosion resistance, and strong resistance to abrasion and impact. Although Alloy 188 cannot be age-hardened, it is ideal for cold forming applications.
