Monel 400 is a nickel-copper alloy made up of about 65% nickel, 33% copper, and 2% iron. This material is known for its high tensile strength and outstanding resistance to corrosion, seawater, as well as most acids and alkalis. It maintains strong mechanical properties at temperatures up to around 550°C and is resistant to stress corrosion cracking. Monel 400 is unaffected by hydrofluoric acid, fluorine, and similar compounds. Note that Alloy 400 (2.4360) cannot be hardened.
