Hexagonal steel is a non-alloy quality steel for mechanical components, identified by material number 1.0503 or C45. This steel is suitable for hardening and tempering, which increases its hardness, toughness, tensile strength, and fatigue resistance. Due to its high carbon content, C45 hexagon steel is only partially suitable for welding and is not generally recommended for large welded structures.
