Stainless steel 1.4301 is the most commonly used type of stainless steel worldwide. This grade is used for at least a third of all stainless steel products. This grade is written as 1.4301 or X5CrNi18-10 according to the EN standard and UNS S30400 according to the UNS standard. This grade can also be shown as 18-8 or 18-10 and these numbers indicate the chromium and nickel percentages of the material. This grade is easy to weld and the machinability of this grade is good. For better corrosion resistance 316 or 316L could be a good alternative and for better machinability grade 303 can be a good alternative.
304 stainless steel is really good value for money and because of its value for money it is very commonly used in many different applications. It is a very common type of stainless steel and it is really easy to find this type of stainless steel in any shape and any size. In daily life, most of the stainless steel products around us are made from 304 (1.4301) stainless steel.
