Terbium is a rare earth metal from the group of lanthanides with atomic number 65. It is ductile and easy to forge. Above 1315 °C, α-terbium converts to β-terbium. The metal forms a solid oxide film in air, making it relatively durable. It burns to Tb₄O₇ and reacts with water to form hydrogen to hydroxide.
Evek GmbH as a reliable supplier offers terbium at a good price. Our products stand for high quality.
Terbium is an unusual metal from the lanthanide group and has a wide range of unique physical properties, as do its alloys and compounds. The main uses of terbium are:
- as an additional element in terbium-iron-cobalt alloys (rewritable magneto-optical disks);
- Increasing coercivity in neodymium-iron-boron magnets;
- optical isolators (terbium gallium garnet);
- as a dopant in SSDs.
Terbium has the following properties:
- ductile and easy to forge;
- relatively persistent in air;
- reacts with water;
- Transition to β form above 1315 °C.
Terbium is available in the Evek GmbH online shop on request. Buying terbium is very easy via Evek GmbH.
