1.3912, also known as Invar 36, is an austenitic alloy made up of about 61% iron and 36% nickel, along with small amounts of silicon, sulfur, phosphorus, manganese, cobalt, chromium, and carbon. This alloy is known for its extremely low thermal expansion, excellent ductility, and toughness. Invar 36 maintains good strength even at low temperatures, and its thermal expansion can be further minimized through cold working. Below its Curie temperature, it is ferromagnetic, while at higher temperatures, it becomes non-magnetic.
Evek GmbH is your trusted source for 1.3912, offering high-quality nickel alloys at competitive prices.
Invar 36 is widely used in the manufacturing, storage, and transportation of liquefied gases. It's also found in measurement and control devices, such as thermostats that operate below 200°C. Additional applications include:
- OLED screen production;
- aircraft construction (CFRP components);
- satellite construction (frames, mounts, and housings for control units);
- optical and laser systems (support for electromagnetic lenses);
- cryogenic components;
- automotive industry (various parts).
Key properties of Invar 36 include:
- Very low thermal expansion;
- High ductility and toughness;
- Good strength at low temperatures;
- Suitable for cold working;
- Ferromagnetic below Curie temperature;
- Non-magnetic above Curie temperature.
