1.3912, also known as Invar 36, is an austenitic alloy made up of roughly 61% iron and 36% nickel, with small amounts of silicon, sulfur, phosphorus, manganese, cobalt, chromium, and carbon. This grade is noted for its low thermal expansion, excellent ductility, and toughness. Invar 36 maintains good strength at low temperatures, and its thermal expansion can be further reduced by cold forming. The material is ferromagnetic below its Curie temperature but becomes non-magnetic at higher temperatures.
Evek GmbH is your trusted supplier of 1.3912, offering high-quality nickel alloys at competitive prices.
Invar 36 is widely used in the production, storage, and transport of liquefied gases. It is also essential in precision measuring and control devices, such as thermostats for temperature monitoring below 200°C. Other typical applications include:
- Manufacturing OLED displays
- Aircraft construction (CFRP components)
- Satellite construction (frames, brackets, housings for electronic systems)
- Optical and laser systems (support structures for electromagnetic lenses)
- Cryogenic components
- Automotive industry (various parts)
Key properties of Invar 36 include:
- Very low thermal expansion
- Excellent ductility and toughness
- Good strength at low temperatures
- Suitable for cold forming
- Ferromagnetic below the Curie temperature
- Non-magnetic above the Curie temperature
