Super Invar® is a modification of the Invar alloy, which contains cobalt as a replacement for part of the nickel in this iron-nickel alloy. This modified composition results in a coefficient of thermal expansion that is close to zero at moderate temperatures.

The alloy can be processed in the conventional way - essentially the same as the Invar alloy. The alloy produces long, thread-like chips that need to be broken. It is known as "gummy," not hard. Positive feed and low speeds are recommended. This alloy is ductile and can be reshaped by all conventional methods. The alloy can be welded with conventional methods. Cold forming with conventional means is well possible due to the good ductility of the alloy.

Super Invar® is used in precision measuring instruments where extreme accuracy and dimensional stability are required with temperature fluctuations.
