Super Invar® is an enhanced Invar alloy where part of the nickel in the iron-nickel composition is replaced with cobalt. This adjustment results in an extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion at moderate temperatures.

The alloy is machinable with standard techniques, similar to regular Invar. It produces long, stringy chips that should be broken up during machining. Known for its "rubbery" rather than hard texture, machining should be done with positive feed and low speeds. Super Invar® is ductile, allowing for all usual forming methods, and it can be welded by conventional techniques. Its good ductility also allows for cold forming.

This alloy is ideal for use in precision instruments where utmost accuracy and dimensional stability are required despite temperature changes.
