1.3912, also known as Invar 36, is an austenitic alloy made up of about 61% iron and 36% nickel, with additional elements like silicon, sulfur, phosphorus, manganese, cobalt, chromium, and carbon. This alloy is valued for its very low thermal expansion, excellent ductility, and toughness. Invar 36 maintains good strength at low temperatures, and its thermal expansion can be further minimized through cold working. It is ferromagnetic below the Curie temperature, becoming non-magnetic at higher temperatures.
Evek GmbH is your trusted supplier for 1.3912 tubes. We offer high-quality nickel-based alloys at competitive prices.
Invar 36 is commonly used in the production, storage, and transportation of liquefied gases, and is also found in measuring and control devices, such as thermostats for temperatures below 200°C. Additional uses include:
- Manufacturing OLED screens
- Aerospace industry (CFRP components)
- Satellite construction (frames, brackets, electronic housing)
- Optical and laser systems (support elements for electromagnetic lenses)
- Cryogenic components
- Automotive industry (various parts)
Main properties of Invar 36:
- Very low thermal expansion
- High ductility and toughness
- Maintains strength at low temperatures
- Suitable for cold forming
- Ferromagnetic below the Curie temperature
- Non-magnetic above the Curie temperature
