1.3912 is an austenitic alloy composed of about 61% iron and 36% nickel, with additional elements including silicon, sulphur, phosphorus, manganese, cobalt, chromium, and carbon. This grade is notable for its low coefficient of thermal expansion, excellent ductility, and toughness. Invar 36 maintains good strength even at low temperatures, and its thermal expansion can be further decreased through cold working. Below its Curie temperature, the material is ferromagnetic, while above it, it becomes non-magnetic.
Evek GmbH is your trusted source for 1.3912 tubes. Purchase high-quality nickel-based alloys from us at competitive prices.
Invar 36 is widely used in equipment for producing, storing, and transporting liquefied gases. It is also essential in measurement and control devices, such as thermostats for temperatures below 200°C. Additional applications include:
- Manufacturing OLED displays
- Aircraft construction (CFRP components)
- Satellite fabrication (frames, brackets, and housings for electronic units)
- Optical and laser equipment (support structures for electromagnetic lenses)
- Cryogenic components
- Automotive industry (various parts)
Key properties of Invar 36 include:
- Very low thermal expansion
- High ductility and toughness
- Good mechanical strength at low temperatures
- Suitable for cold forming
- Ferromagnetic below the Curie temperature
- Non-magnetic above the Curie temperature
