The heat-resistant steel 1.4828 is an austenitic chromium-nickel-silicon stainless steel that is oxidation-resistant in air up to a temperature of 950 °C. H20N12S2 has a similar chemical composition to X15CrNiSi25-21, 1.4841.

The materials described differ by a comparatively lower content of chromium and nickel in the chemical composition. A common feature is the same content of silicon and carbon. The choice of grade is determined by the price, which results from the content of alloying additives and the degree of aggressiveness of the working environment of the earth element. Material 1.4828 can be used up to a maximum temperature of 1100 - 1150 °C.

Material 1.4828 is resistant to nitriding, carbonitriding, carburizing atmospheres, embrittlement at high operating temperatures, and to nitrogen- and oxygen-containing gases.
