Heat-resistant steel 1.4828 is an austenitic chromium-nickel-silicon stainless steel, offering oxidation resistance in air up to 950°C. H20N12S2 is comparable in chemical composition to X15CrNiSi25-21, 1.4841.
This steel type stands out for its relatively lower chromium and nickel content, while maintaining similar silicon and carbon levels. The choice between grades often depends on cost, which is influenced by the alloy composition and the operating environment’s demands. 1.4828 can be used at temperatures up to 1100-1150°C.
1.4828 material is resistant to nitriding, carbonitriding, carburizing atmospheres, embrittlement at high temperatures, and gases containing nitrogen and oxygen.
