Heat-resistant steel 1.4828 is an austenitic chromium-nickel-silicon stainless steel, offering oxidation resistance in air up to 950 °C. H20N12S2 is chemically similar to X15CrNiSi25-21 and 1.4841.
This material stands out due to its relatively lower chromium and nickel content, although it features the same silicon and carbon levels as related grades. The selection of the specific grade depends on price and the aggressiveness of the application environment. Steel 1.4828 can be used at temperatures up to 1100–1150 °C.
1.4828 is resistant to nitriding, carbonitriding, carburizing environments, embrittlement at elevated temperatures, and gases containing nitrogen and oxygen.
