As this steel grade is not rust resistant, it cannot be used in corrosive media without additional surface treatment. EN 10270-1-DH spring steel is widely used for springs subjected to high static loads. However, spring wire made of this steel grade can also withstand medium dynamic stresses. The maximum operating temperature is 80 °C. To increase the durability of the wire, shot peening is used. The wire can be used with or without surface treatment.
