Bluish-white, shiny, very hard and brittle metal with a density of 7100 to 7190 kg / m3, symbol Cr, atomic number 24 and relative atomic mass 51.996. It crystallizes body-centered cubic. The melting point is 1860 to 1900ºC, the boiling point is 2317ºC and the Brinell hardness is 70 HB.
